DNR Conservation Practice Standard 1009 Rain Garden, created through the SOC Modified Process, is now available. The Rain Garden Standard 1009 dated September 2018 was created based on the 2003 “Rain Garden – A How to Manual for Homeowners” (originally created by the UW-Extension and DNR). This manual is also being updated and is expected to be published later this year.
The Rain Garden Standard 1009 addresses the design of residential and commercial rain gardens and will be available to assist counties to meet the impervious surface standard provision of their shoreland zoning ordinances they must establish per NR 115, Wis. Adm. Code. The final standard is attached and also posted on the DNR’s storm water post-construction technical standards web page.
Responses to comments from the SOC Broad Review process are available on the Proposed DNR Program Guidance web page.
